Michael E. Ryan, DO, is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of Pediatrics within Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Ryan is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatric Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Ryan attended Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland to earn his undergraduate degree. He was awarded his medical degree by Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City, Missouri, and proceeded to Tri-County Hospital in Springfield, Pennsylvania, where he completed a rotating internship. Dr. Ryan subsequently fulfilled two pediatric residencies at Tri County Hospital and Geisinger Medical Center. Rounding out his postdoctoral training, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.

An accomplished writer, Dr. Ryan received first prize in the Montour County Medical Essay Contest and American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians Resident Essay Contest. Additional accolades include the 1992 American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians Distinguished Service Award, 2006-2007 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching, and an honorary Doctorate of Law degree issued by the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. Since his time at Geisinger, Dr. Ryan has served as principal investigator for nearly twenty research protocols in the area of pediatric infectious diseases; he has authored several peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and has presented his findings at numerous international, national, and local grand rounds, conferences, and symposia.
